The Seventh Generation BMW 5 Series is on it’s way folks! With it’s recent press debut, it looks like BMW is remaining true to it’s Ultimate Driving Machine promise with the latest 5 Series lineup. While the specs aren’t finalized quite yet, it’s looking quite promising for those looking to purchase one of the new sedans. If you happen to land in that fortunate category, then here’s a little preview of what to expect.
The 2017 BMW 5 Series
The BMW 5 Series makes it’s way into 2017 with subtle vanity design enhancements. New LED head and taillamps begin the upgrades from the outside. Engineered with more aluminum and high-strength steel, the sedans measure up to 220 pounds lighter. A couple versions of fuel-efficient diesel engines make for extended options for a variety of drivers.
And now the big one: Performance. Obviously the German auto maker has banked off this concept for decades. Today is no different. The 5 Series includes an array of performance sedans. The 530i, 520d, and 530d all present well formed, quick and powerful vehicles. The 530e iPerformance plug-in hybrid clocks in with 252 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. While it may be a hybrid, it drives like a racecar. Topping off the line is the M550i xDrive. It’s 4.4-liter V8 packs a 462 horsepower punch and 479 lb-ft of torque…making it the reigning performance monarch on the roads.
Intelligence is key in today’s global markets, and the 5 Series leads the way. A host of driver assist technologies help make the drive safer and more efficient. A 10.3” touchscreen and head-up display is larger and more intelligent than it’s predecessors. Voice recognition is, let’s admit, even more Bond-like than the rest. But the convenience of the interior doesn’t go unnoticed either. More legroom and enhanced cargo space make it more spacious and comfortable for everyone.
The 2017 BMW 5 Series hits dealerships as early as next month.
